形態特徵

• Perennial herb 0.5-10 cm (sometimes longer and straggling), suberect to ascending from a creeping, branching rooting base, unbranched or ± branched above; stems ± caespitose, sometimes mat-forming, 2-4-lined or sometimes becoming almost terete, eglandular
• leaves sessile or with petiole up to 1 mm long; lamina 0.4-1.2 cm long, 0.15-0.6 cm broad, ovate (below inflorescence) to elliptic or narrowly oblong or obovate, apex rounded, base cordate to cuneate-angustate, subsoriaceous, markedly glaucous and sometimes papillose beneath, with 2-3 ascending lateral veins but no visible reticulate venation, dense intramarginal dark glands and numerous to few laminar glandular dots, varying in size, only pale or mixed pale and dark.
• Inflorescence 1-5(-7)-flowered, subcorymbose, without axillary branches; flowers 12-18 mm in diam., ± plane, in bud ovoid to ellipsoid, acute; sepals 3-5 mm long, 0.8-1.2 mm broad, lanceolate to narrowly oblong, acute to subacuminate, entire, with irregular intramarginal dark glands and laminar pale and dark streaks or lines, erect in fruit; petals 7-11 mm long, 2-3(-4.5) mm broad, obovate or oblong-lanceolate to lanceolate, yellow, persistent, without marginal glands, with laminar glandular lines, streaks and dots, pale and usually also dark; stamens obscurely 3-fascicled, persistent, ca. 43; anthers yellow, with black gland; ovary 3-locular, styles 2.5-3 times as long (4-6 mm), free, spreading from base.
• Capsule 6-7 mm long, ca. 4 mm broad, narrowly ovoid, with longitudinal vittae; seeds not seen.
• No single character separates <i>H. nokoense</i> from <i>H. nagasawai</i> (from which it appears to be derived by reduction); but the combination of small and relatively broad leaves, acute sepals usually with dark laminar glands, and styles more than twice as long as the ovary appears to distinguish it. The leaf glands are not wholly dark (<i>pace</i> Ohwi and Kimura).
